5 fun ways to burn fat

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

Let’s face it – January’s a time for new year’s resolutions and for some people, a great motivation to improve your overall health. We’ve all had too many glasses of wine over the Christmas period, and if you want to lose a few pounds, it can be difficult.

The only way to lose weight is being in a calorie deficit, which means you need to burn more calories than you consume. While some people reach for fad diets such as Atkins or Keto, they aren’t sustainable long term. This is where a balanced diet and exercise are fantastic weight-loss tools.

I’ve put together a few of the best (and fun) ways to burn fat below.

Boxing

You’ve seen AJ in the ring and boutique studios popping up across London, but have you tried having a go yourself? This high-intensity sport is a great way to burn calories without even realising it. If you dread the treadmill, this should be your new go-to.

And don’t worry, no one is saying you actually need to fight. Invest in a cheap pair of gloves and pads to start with, and try throwing a few punches with a friend outside.

Get your vitamins

Did you know our motivational shake is packed full of pumpkin seeds? Not only are they a source of protein, but they contain a high natural source of magnesium which plays a key role in metabolism for energy release. And the faster your metabolism, the more calories you burn while resting. It really is that easy.

Climb your way to success

If you think exercise needs to be done in the gym, think again. Once an exciting kid’s party activity, climbing is now a celebrity-endorsed fitness trend. If you don’t fancy the high intensity of boxing, this is a great alternative. The first time will be scary but remember – don’t look down!

There are beginners’ classes if you want to build up your confidence in a group, or if you have a willing friend, you could always drag them along. This one might need to be saved for post-lockdown though....

Get creative in the kitchen

If you’re the kind of person to pick up (or Deliveroo) a Pret at lunchtime, this could be good for you. Making lunch from scratch means you know exactly what’s going into your food, so you can control the calories you are consuming. Plus, you’ll end up saving money, something we all could do with after a challenging year…

Time to explore

We’ve all learned to appreciate the outside more recently and walking is an amazing way to burn calories. Have a search for local routes or beauty spots online and grab a pair of walking boots. Half a day of adventuring will leave you happy and exhausted.

Losing fat doesn’t need to be a chore and even small changes can have a huge effect. Make sure you follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly; they will have you back on track in no time at all.
